The Chefchaouen day trip from Fes starts at about 08:00 AM when a guide/driver from our team will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Fes or at our meeting point at Bab Boujloud. Be ready for an exciting day ahead. Chefchaouen is located about 200 km from Fes, and the drive typically takes around 3 hours and 45 minutes without traffic.
Chefchaouen is nestled in the Rif Mountains and is a popular destination for both tourists and locals. It is known for its shady alleys, whitewashed houses with blue turquoise doors, wrought iron windows, and tiled roofs. One of the town's most striking features is the blue paint that colors the walls of the Medina in different shades and patterns.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, you will explore the Medina. Your journey includes a climb to the "Ras El Maa Waterfall", a famous water source atop a mountain that offers panoramic views of the whole city and its mountainous terrain. Along the way, you will pass through famous landmarks such as the "Place of Outa El Hammam", the town's main square surrounded with many cafes and restaurants, a perfect spot to relax. In this square, you will also see the Kasbah, an 18th-century fortress that has been beautifully restored and now features a lovely garden.
This day trip to Chefchaouen from Fes would be incomplete without a visit to the "Bouzafer Mosque", also known as the Spanish Mosque. Perched on a hill, it provides a captivating view of Chefchaouen and the surrounding mountains. Built in the 15th century by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa, this mosque holds historical significance in the spread of Islam in the region. Although it is no longer used for daily prayers, it remains an important cultural landmark.
In the evening, you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Fes, ending our services for the excursion from Fes to Chefchaouen. Enjoy your day of discovery and the unique beauty of Chefchaouen!
